Thanks to everyone who responded in this thread. Here we are three weeks later and yesterday I finally reinstalled the game. This would tell a player that they are up-to-date with the last/final patch. Is there a final patch version number for this game and where within the game would I find that? This is something else I've never been able to figure out about the Sims games, why there apparently is no place that lists a final version number, like with all other computer games I've ever played. That's why I don't even bother with MTS with this kind of stuff because much of their info is outdated, inaccurate or just plain wrong. Patching a base game whenever there is a new release is normal standard operating procedure for software publishers, but there's always such conflicting opinions about the Sims games, much of it from people who don't have a clue what they're talking about. I don't think I had to last time did this. I also have the Double Deluxe base game, and since this was released later than anything other than Mansions & Gardens, I'm hoping I don't have to install any patches for the earlier expansions. I know I didn't install things in the order suggested at the link in my OP the last time I did this, I only knew that if I ended up using the Pets Collection CD at the end (which includes the final expansion, Mansions & Gardens), I was okay. Yeah, doing this only every few years is the problem I have too, because you forget exactly how it's done. From what I recall, the patches for earlier games were included in the later games, so it was just a matter of maybe patching M&G at the end.īut again, I haven't done that install in years. I don't remember ever being concerned about install order. I haven't started the installation yet, but I'd like to know how to properly do it before I start. So, I've downloaded the 4 patches, but do I also need to download the individual patches for the expansions and stuff packs? At first, it looks like there are only 4 patches, but on second glance it's apparent that each of those 4 actually has sub-patches (for lack of a better term) for individual expansions and stuff packs. However, like most things dealing with the technical aspects of this game, this patches page is a little confusing. The EA representative advised to patch whenever prompted, and the patches can be found here: The install order for all the expansions and stuff packs I found quickly with a Google search here: After almost a year without Simming, or in my case mostly Lot making, I'm getting ready to reinstall Sims 2.
